Happy Belated St Patty's Day & Easter

posted Monday, 24-Mar-2008

Well here it is a week after the party season has begun for March and what a party it was.  St Patty's Day parties which included drinking some kind of green drink on the St Patty's Day and then Easter on the weekend it was an exhausting week of partying and having a good time.

Let me see when was the last time I blogged.  What has happened since then?  Well St Patty's Day party out of town was a great time.  Got together with some great friends and we had some great laughs.  Wish the laughs had continued it seemed by the time I awoke on Sunday my good mood had changed and not for the better at all.  I cannot turn back the hands of time now but we always learn from our mistakes.  This was yet another bump in the road of life.  One I took with a hard hit and now am trying to bounce out of the ditch to get back on the right road.  It was an awesome party as usual and good friends.  I still state singlism is the way of life.  Even if I did take a month's leave of absence from the singlism train.

Monday being St Patty's Day my good friend Nikki and I loaded up early that day and hit the local Irish Pub Dolan's.   Couple of awesome bands were playing there that night and finding a place to sit was virtually impossible but with a little perserverance we landed a table just before our food arrived.  We arrived at 4:30 and left at midnight.  The green drinks tasted pretty good, the company of my friend Nikki and others in the bar made for some great laughs and good times and the music was awesome!  My night did take a turn for the worse for a little while.  When we were sitting there all calm and enjoying the band another table beside us were into the night and the festivities.  All of a sudden I felt this hand rubbing my leg and looked over to my right to see this guy sitting there putting the moves on me.  I was less then impressed.  I kindly asked him to remove his hand or he would be not happy with the next results.  I was not that kind of person and asked him to stop.  He removed the hand for fear of what I might do but his actions lasted for another 10 minutes until he found a much prettier victim.  Never a dull moment in my life.  My next green drink after that was a very VERY strong double!

Last week was treatment week for Mum.  She braved yet another week of treaments and that is always a good thing.  She was battling a cold last week that took it's toll on her energy before the end of the week and then now with some rest on the weekend it has come back some.  Hopefully our next visit with the Dr's on April 2 & 10 brings some good news and then we can see some good progress.  Her platelets are coming up a little bit.  They are 17 as of Thursday.  Hopefully tomorrow's blood work will be good results as well.

Easter weekend did not see much going on.  I went out with a friend to hear some great blues on Friday night then off to the local meat market.  I got to witness some interesting sights yet again like every night I go to the bars.  Saturday night I returned to the pubs to hear some more blues playing and amazing harmonica playing.  It really was a good time.  Sunday for Easter we went to my grandmother's place for a potluck supper in the afternoon with family it was a good time had by all.

This week is going to be busy.  Spring arrived last Thursday at 2:48 a.m. but I am thinking Mother Nature missed the memo cause we had a major snow storm Thursday and then this week we have a couple of them forecasted again.  I am done with winter any time.  Spring means flowers and snow be gone but thinking in June we could have some of this snow still here.  ATVing will be late starting this year at this rate.

Other then that not much new with me as you can see I am still the boring old guy I always was.  That will probably never change!

Hope you are all doing wonderfully and I will be around to visit all of you soon!  Also thanks to Dan for the great photo - I love it!

Wedding Bells Are Ringing.......

Thursday, 3-Jul-2008 9:55 P GMT-03

and they are not mine!!!!!!!!Tongue out

and won't be mine anytime soon!!!!!!!!!Laughing

June seemed to be the wedding month of the year for me as I have spent my weekends pretty well attending one for sure the last couple of weekends.  2008 in a whole seems to be a year to be wed for some reason.  That is all right for those who are interested.  I like my single life for now at least :)

June 21, 2008 seen the wedding of my cousin in Moncton.  He and his bride had their wedding out on the wharf at the Yacht Club very nice wedding.  It was a gorgeous day!

This past weekend seen the wedding that some might refer to as it was all about tongues and devil's horns.  Some of the pictures from this heavy metal rocker couple was priceless and what a very simple quaint wedding it was.  Both the bride and groom have been friends of mine and it was an amazing day to witness their special moment.  They truly will live happily ever after!

This weekend we load up the ATV's and head for our annual SummerJam weekend of ATVing in the picturesque area of Sussex and surrounding areas.  It will be a treat to say the least and we are looking forward to it.

As well this past week on July 2nd Mum has begun her daily trip to Saint John each day for her radiation treatments.  Like the chemotherapy treatments she is facing these head on and will not let them beat her down.  She will have 11 in before we head to London Ontario mid month and then will finish the remaining when we get back home on the 20th.  August 1 is the day we are shooting for the most.  The day they announce remission.

Hope all is well with all of you and I have been around quietly lurking but commenting.  When I get back from the weekend I will be around to visit all of you!

Gas

Friday, 27-Jun-2008 3:05 P GMT-03

Two aliens landed in the Arizona desert near a gas station that was closed for the night. They approached one of the gas pumps and the younger alien addressed it saying, 'Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader.' The gas pump, of course, didn't respond. The younger alien became angry at the lack of response. The older alien said, 'I'd calm down if I were you.' The younger alien ignored the warning and repeated his greeting. Again, there was no response. Annoyed by what he perceived to be the pump's haughty attitude, he drew his ray gun and said impatiently, 'Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Do not ignore us this way! Take us to your leader or I will fire!' The older alien again warned his comrade saying, 'You probably don't want to do that! I really don't think you should make him mad.' 'Rubbish,' replied the cocky, young alien. He aimed his weapon at the pump and opened fire. There was a huge explosion. A massive fireball roared towards them and blew the younger alien off his feet and deposited him a burnt, smoking mess about 200 yards away in a cactus patch. Half an hour passed. When he finally regained consciousness, he refocused his three eyes, straightened his bent antenna, and looked dazedly at the older, wiser alien who was standing over him shaking his big, green head. 'What a ferocious creature!' exclaimed the young, fried alien. 'He damn near killed me! How did you know he was so dangerous?' The older alien leaned over, placed a friendly feeler on his crispy friend and replied, 'If there's one thing I've learned during my intergalactic travels, you don't want to mess with a guy who can loop his penis over his shoulder twice and then stick it in his ear.'

The End of an Era

Thursday, 19-Jun-2008 9:32 P GMT-03

Well it was a very sad day today.  It was the end of an era for me when I drove into the dealership and handed the keys over to the Funky Cab and signed my life away for the next 4 years and come out with something new.  This was a sad day and a day of big change as I have never driven anything other then a van since April 2, 1996.  The question of why does a single man drive a van?  Well to get all my gear into it.  With the rising price of gasoline in the country it was time to downsize a little bit anyways.  So now the Funky Cab will become the Funky Rogue.  It is blue and full of power for that little racing 4 cylinder.  It will take some time to get settled into it but we are here for a good ride and we will have it for quite some time.

I've Called in Dead Today

Thursday, 12-Jun-2008 3:38 P GMT-03

Ever have one of those weeks where nothing seems to go right to often and you are so busy that you wish a vacation would be nice but even then that really would not do well trust me this morning before I crawled out of bed and got ready to come to work I thought about calling in dead.  Could you hear the voice mail recording now "You have reached the voice mail of TheFunkyCowboy I am sorry I cannot come to the phone as I have called in dead today. If you need immediate assistance please dial 0 now otherwise leave a message after the beep!!!!!!"

Things at work have been hectic as of late with so many out of town projects and not small one's either they seem to be occupying more time then we can offer right now.  I was assured by both of the crews that today would see the finishing of both projects and would see us get back to some kind of normalcy again.  Whatever normal is.

The usual hodge podge of life stuff has been happening around the world with me.  I get up and work every day, I spend my evenings that I have vegging in front of the big screen TV and playing several retarded rounds of golf, the nights I have dance class I go to them and then my weekends have been booked solid.  Someone once told me I was going to have the summer off - wonder what summer they were referring to is maybe the better question?  I have learned to use the word NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO but for some reason it is not working out well for me.  Maybe with a little guidance and teaching I will get it down pat soon.  This weekend will be yet another busy one as my week has been with dance classes and meetings.  My two least favorite things during a nice sunny weekend.

On the front with Mum things with her have been going well.  We have seen a boost in her blood counts in some regard in the last couple of weeks. We have platelet counts of 192.  The highest it has been in - well I could not tell you when.  Her other levels are coming up slowly but surely as well.  This break from Chemotherapy since May 27th has been a welcome change.  We see the Dr's again in SJ on the 25th of this month then July 2 we start our several trips to SJ for radiation therapy.  The time will fly by and before we know it she will be in the home stretch and on the real road to recovery.

Other then that not many things have been going on as of late.  The great flood of 08 seems like a distant memory now to some of us until we take a drive down the highway and see even after almost a month now the piles of rubble and debris that people have thrown out as loss from the flood.  The clean up effort will take a very long time to get that all looked after.

Other then that not much new to report.  Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and I will be around to visit all of you soon.

Remember this As you slide down the bannister of life may the splinters be pointing in your favor.Tongue out

1000th Post & Very Long Overdue

Wednesday, 28-May-2008 9:30 P GMT-03

Wow - 1000th Post.  It has taken me since April 26th to come to realize that life is busy and my 1000th post will be boring as old hell I am sure.  Oh well that happens I guess.

Since April 26th we have been extremely busy I guess.  Dancing has finally wound down for the summer and that is a welcome change by all means. I have been busy with work which seems to be few and far between lately cause I have been spending as much time attending appointments with Mum and her treatments whenever I can.  Work can wait - work will be there when I get back - Mum and her health and well being come first.  Always have and always will.

The Mum update seeing as that is where most of my readers are interested in the most when they come to visit here.  Since Mid April we have seen Mum's chemotherapy regime change to a multi drugs concoction.  She has been receiving a couple before this and now with the CVP it is allot stronger and she feels it.  Her numbers had dropped considerably after the first round and delayed things by a week and then as of yesterday I can say that she is done her chemotherapy treatment for the time being.  We have had several road trips to the Doctors in Saint John and things seem to be taking a change in practice.  We do know that the cancer is gone in all nodes of the body and the only area left is the neck which the new CVP has downsized some.  We are going to have a 4 week break then we switch over to radiation for 20 treatments then I am sure she will have a couple more chemotherapy treatments and then her clean bill of health will be awarded.  She has been one of the strongest troopers I have ever met while battling this.  She is still strong and nothing will take her down.  Each and every day is a new day and the challenges we face she over comes and keeps going stronger and stronger all the time.  She makes me proud no words can ever express that.

Life with me has been just about as normal as normal can be.  I have been busy with dance classes 5 nights a week and with this welcome break it is comforting to know that at evenings I have time that I can call my own.  I have not been out ATVing till this past weekend as the weather has been shitty and really have not had much time to go actually.  That will hopefully change.  I have the summer off just through the week at nights from what I understand as my weekends are looking a little full these days.

2008 seems to be the year to get married.  I have 4 weddings to go to in 2008.  I have not attended that many in the last 5 years!

So now what we really have come here to hear.  1000th post.  Many would think that is a milestone.  It is.  Just not sure it is one I am proud of in some ways.  Some of the 1000 posts included in this blog have shared allot of joy, allot of sorrow and allot of useless matter.  It has seen me go though several break ups with some people and that is fine.  It has certainly been more bad news of sorts in my blog in the last little while.  I am sure there are some out there that would find it entertaining that the bad has come back to find me in life.  So the question remained as I got ready to type this 1000th post - do I keep blogging?  Hell YES. I can come here when I need it most and vent and go on and you can choose to read it like a trashy magazine at the supermarket check out or hit the X in the corner and close down the window.  This blog has been my therapy at times when I needed it most and have made some great friends along the way through the www.com world.  A real reason to stay and see where the journey goes.

So as life would have it you can see I am busy.  My stress level is probably at a medium risk to what it always was.  Life makes us that way but at least I am getting better.  I am still single and probably if we ever get to the 2000th post I still will be.  Choice in my life I am going to stick to I think.  The strength I gain from my mother every day I see her and how she has faced her battle makes me stronger and makes me appreciate every day in life for what it has to offer.

Thanks to all of you who have come through the revolving doors of this here saloon and hopefully you can pull up a stool at the bar and we will sit a spell and talk about our lives and share in our experiences and learn to enjoy life for what it is.

Till next time! Keep smiling :)

Happy Birthday Teresa

Another New Gadget

Wednesday, 23-Apr-2008 8:43 P GMT-03

Seems I have landed another new gadget for my collection.  I love my music so a new gadget was needed when I could use up some airmiles I had accumulated.

Here is the one I picked up only in Silver:
